Who'd have thought it?

I learnt today, through Vulpes Libris, that Harry Enfield lists Crime and Punishment as his favourite book. Of course, me being me, I am sorely tempted to send Mr Enfield a copy of A Gentle Axe. You may remember that I sent a copy to another devotee of Dostoevsky, Lorraine Kelly.

Who will be the next TV star to declare a passion for the master of Russian angst, I wonder? Feel free to leave some suggestions.

Apparently John Simm has a hankering for a bit of C & P. He played Raskolnikov in the BBC adaptation. You should send him a copy too...

I'm still reeling from the fact that Tony Blair claimed his favorite song was King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man. Your celebs have odd (not bad, but...odd) favorites. I blame British weather.

(The last book most US celebs read was "Pat the Bunny.")

Oh John Simm would be terrific! Definitely him one, via his agent, Roger.

Ooh, thanks for that suggestion Aliya. I may send him one too, especially now that Sarah has very kindly provided an address for him.

I've sent a copy of A Gentle Axe to 'a famous actor', in the hope of interesting him in playing Porfiry. He got back to me, saying he had received it and was looking forward to reading it, but nothing more... I am being coy about his identity for superstitious reasons!

David, the British weather is to blame for a lot of things. Tony Blair's music choice is probably more revealing than he would want them to be!
