The French succumb to the Axe (finally!)

I learnt today that I have a French publisher for A Gentle Axe. Actually, not just for Gentle Axe. The publisher, Univers Poche, have also acquired the next book in my Porfiry Petrovich series, A Vengeful Longing, which is due out in the UK in February 2008. Oh, and it seems they have also acquired the book after that, the title of which I shall be keeping under wraps for a little while longer yet. A three book deal then! The scary thing is that the third book, Title Under Wraps, is not yet written. I did write a synopsis, which I'm sure I must have lying around somewhere.

Looks like I'm going to be busy.

Well done, Roger - that's great news! Sorry I'm not at WW - or at least not on the forums - as much these days btw, but I've just been burnt once too often now, and it's not as friendly as it once was, I fear.

Hugs to you!

Hi Roger

That's pretty spectacular news - congratulations on "Une Hache Douce"! Though, I can imagine a three book deal is a little daunting too...

Any closer to giving up the day-job?

Take care

Matt

Hi Matt, I'm still day-jobbing. And quite obviously I'm fully committed, 100%, to that. That's just in case anybody from work is spying!

Fabulous news Rog, very well done indeed! I shall point my mother - who lives in the Limousine - in the book's direction!

Having worked for the French at one time in my life, I don't think they ever "succumb". This is a nationality that knows its own mind and firmly.

That makes it all the more of an achievement; you can only grab them as they never weaken to succumb.

Congrats, Roger. Your world record is now threatening the 2012 Olympics. (May I say that? I gather there's a copyright on something or other for our hosting of the event...) You don't have their budget, but by God you've got more tentacles out there internationally than so many! All the best!

Well done Roger. I will watch out for your books over here and get my French partner - a crime fiction lover - to buy them in French. I will let you know what the translation's like! Your success is wonderful and an inspiration to others. :-) You must be pretty darn close to giving up the day job, no?

Thanks David, cfr, Bev and Shameless! Bev, i don't feel like the energiser bunny! Feel like I'm close to running down. Shameless, that would be great. But as the deal has only just been arranged I don't imagine it will be any day soon.
