I'll get me coat...

I've just realised I'm being linked to from the Faber and Faber website. It's wonderful of them to do but... it has suddenly made me feel very self-conscious. Looking at the other blogs on the faber blog roll only brings home how much cleverer and more knowledgeable than me other faber authors are.

They write erudite and brilliant articles about the state of the novel, literary criticism, President Sarkozy... meanwhile I bumble on about wooden cooking utensils and make videos about my cat.

And beards. Don't forget beards.

Sometimes nothing will get you redder than political shenanigans. It needs a vent, for sure, or heads get full-up of ugly and the pressure stacks curse words at the back of throats and middle fingers get twitchy in public.

And don't even get me started on the myriad ways that the state of literature can wind me up.

But sometimes, dear Roger, it's all about what's right or wrong in the kitchen.

And thank God for that.

Do stay on your path.

Yes, Rachael, I forgot the beards. Thanks for reminding me just how trivial I am!

And Jamie, thank you for that. I really do appreciate it. More than you might imagine.

If I've managed to provide some small boost, then that is good news. Karma points for me, which could come in handy since I've posted on rock concerts and my damned bathrobe recently. Lol!

You've got great style, Roger, and if I can't have writing that makes the mundane sparkle just a little, my life would be halved.

You're needed.

Roger. If I could write as beautifully about my beard - which, since my fortieth birthday, (regretfully) deserves notice - as you do, or indeed about Sarkozy as funnily as you write about your beard, I would be the happiest of Faber authors. Chapeau! Lucy.

Oh please, more writing videos - even without the cat if she won't join in. They're so much more fun than working.

Hi Lucy, thanks for looking in and it's a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for the kind words!

Hi Ruth! I will see what I can do! It's easier than working for me too.
