Another American sighting.

My thanks to writer Alicia Gifford
for this snapshot taken in the Mystery section, Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena, California. Not bad for a mobile phone picture.

It's the kind of shot, like the ones taken by David Isaak that lifts a lonely writer's spirits.

Something else that lifts the spirits is to see A Vengeful Longing listed by The Sunday Times as one of the 100 best holiday reads. Amazingly, I happen to know two of the other authors similarly favoured - my fellow North London Historical Crime Writers, Frank Tallis and Andrew Martin.

Hey Roger,

Amazing still that I pick up the Sunday copy of Times in London and see your book listed as best reads for summer. Happy to tell you that I am carrying both the books back to India. I picked them up in Leicester! Its going to add adventure to my Indian summer. I meet Will (Atkins) for coffee today and carry back a bag load of MNW books! Writing is lonely business, but connecting with the community of writers is as rewarding as discovering that some people believe that your book is worthy of being listed as a good read. Hearty congratulations!

Hey, Roger--

Vroman's is the top indie bookstore in Southern California--a very cool place. And, of course, they have excellent taste...

Hi Suroopa, lovely to hear from you. Hope you are having a nice time over here. I was going to say 'give my regards to Will' but because I'm slow in commenting, I realise that you've already met him. Thanks so much for picking up the books - sounds like you will be weighed down going back!

Hi David, sounds like my kind of bookshop!
