The axe is out!
Today is the official UK publication date of A Gentle Axe (Faber, pounds 12.99, ISBN-10: 0571232051, ISBN-13: 978-0571232055).
If you spot it anywhere, I'd love to hear about it.

Roger
Just ordered myself A Gentle Axe (to go with the broadsword!!)
Hope P-day has gone well... did it feel different to Taking Comfort's?
Cheers
Matt
Mine arrived from Amazon on Tuesday.
Thanks Matt, thanks Paul!! What can I say? It's really great of you.
Difference in publication days? Hmm. Tricky one. Yes. I would say it has felt very different. I've felt just as apprehensive, but this time there has been a weird unreal, almost empty, feeling. It was so great with MNW, with the launch party and everything, the various bookshop launches, plus being part of the 'family' - there was a tremendous sense of support and cameraderie, which I have missed this time. Coming out on your own, as it were, you feel much more isolated. I was going to say and 'exposed' - but I think the feeling of being exposed is equal. The sense that you've greated something in good faith, but which is now in the public domain, and therefore open to attack from all quarters, is the same. Despite my propensity for self-promotion, I do have an overwhelming urge to hide away. That may be why I do most of my pimping online. I'm not great at getting out there and putting myself in front of people.
Also because I've been concentrating on finishing the next book, which was due on publication day, I haven't been that focused on the launch. Faber are hosting something for all the fiction titles coming out this quarter, so I hope that I will meet some of the other authors there. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the MNW gang! There's a chance that I may have a couple of bookshop events too. I'm hoping that's being sorted out as I type!
Well done, Roger - enjoy!

Thanks Anne. I meant to add something to your last comment... the writer's fear of the bookshop. I still feel like an outsider looking in - and the sheer number of books in their is overwhelming. And now, with this book, there's an extra odd feeling - the feeling, actually, that it has nothing to do with me. That it can't be mine, or isn't mine any more. I think that may have something to do with putting it out as 'R.N. Morris'. I keep thinking, who is this R.N. Morris person?
Congratulations! It's been great to watch you on this journey. Hope it takes you to wonderful places!
Thanks Debi. Jeepers just re-reading my typo-littered comments! What a shoddy slapdash display. I take a bit more time over my books, honest folks!
Heck, Roger, don't worry about it! I look in the mirror every morning and wonder who the hell that person is!!! She ain't nothing to do with the person in my head, for sure ...

Congratulations Roger!
I hope that now it's been a couple of days, it's sunk in.
All the best to you!
Hi Roger,
My name is Mike and I am the graphic designer working on the cover of your audiobook here in the US at Tantor Media (www.tantor.com). Just wanted to let you know that the audio version of the US bound Gentle Axe is underway here and is due to ship in late March.
The cover on the US version is different than the ones I've been seeing elsewhere, but is just as moody.
Just thought I'd give you the heads-up and let you know that there are many proofers in our building who've enjoyed the audio very much.
Congrats and looking forward to reading this myself!
-Mike Campbell
Thanks Mike! Thanks for popping in and for your kind words. I was very excited when I heard about the audiobook. Can't wait!
A little belatedly, I'd like to congratulate! I'll be back in England son and I'll pick up a a copy.
